Hegalak Sports Center

Summary

A sports center designed for wellness with universal design and accessibility for everyone, located next to La Concha beach, just a few meters from downtown San Sebastián.
Its 4,000 m² facilities and the services it offers are European benchmarks in technology, biomechanics, and sports. Hegalak features three pools, direct beach access, a spa, multipurpose rooms, and a health area staffed by a sports doctor, nutritionist, and physiotherapist. It provides multidisciplinary services with personalized treatment aimed at improving people’s health.

Transport

● It can be reached by adapted public transport.
● The 16, 18, 19, 23, 26 and 28 services from the urban bus network operated by Dbus have stops close to the sports centre.
● The nearest bus stop is “Urbieta 6″, 95 metres away.

● Pedestrian routes between the bus stop and the sports centre are barrier-free.

PRM place of public parking

Access

There are three entrances:
1. Main access: Cube-shaped glass edicule, located in Plaza Cervantes between the Hotel Londres and Avenida de la Libertad. The door is sliding and automatic with a free passage of 120 cm, and is oriented towards the beach. Behind the door there is a hall, on the right, an elevator accessible to wheelchair users and in front of it stairs that go down.
2. From La Concha promenade: There are two gates attached to Hegalak, one next to the other. The first closest to the Town Hall is the one used to access the beach from the center, and the second leads to the reception area. Both are automatic slides with a free passage area of 109 cm. Access from the doors to the Center is through ramps.

3. Access from the public underground car park Kontxa. Located on the -1 floor, next to 9 parking spaces for people with reduced mobility. The door is manual with a free passage area of 92 cm and is usually open.

Getting around

● The inside of the building is wheelchair-accessible.

● The centre has common toilets and adapted changing rooms in the different areas.
● The doors are sliding with a 92 cm wide clearance.
● There is a sliding door with a clear opening width of 90 cm.
● The lavatory has 2 folding support rails.
● The washbasins are ready for wheelchairs users and have mixer taps.
● All changing rooms and toilets have a voice threshold system to communicate directly with the reception if there are any problems.

● There is an area with three vending machines left of reception and next to the waiting chairs.
● There is one machine for coffee, one for drinks and another one for food.

Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs (guide, signal, medical alert, autism, service dogs for people with reduced mobility, etc.) are admitted free of charge, in accordance with Law 10/2007, of 29 June, on Assistance Dogs for the Care of People with Disabilities.
